Hero Marketer

Ads change history

Your numbers moved, and nobody can say what changed.

Google Ads keeps its change history for 30 days, LinkedIn and Meta don't share theirs, and none of them shows what happened next. This ads change history marks each change on your trend chart, with the result on your cost and conversions. When your CEO asks what changed, you have the date, who did it and what followed.

How it works

From a change to what followed.

01

It records

Every change you make is written down

A change you make, a change Hero AI makes after you approve it, and a change an automation makes are all recorded. Twelve negative keywords added in one day are one row.

3 changes One day

  • Lowered campaign budget Automation
  • 12 negative keywords added Hero AI

Twelve edits, one row

02

It collects

Google edits made elsewhere show up too

Edits made in the Google Ads website, in Editor, by Google's own recommendations or by other tools are stored every morning. LinkedIn and Meta don't share their history, so they show only changes made in Hero Marketer.

You see

A pin for every change, under the chart

Turn on Mark changes on any chart over time. A dot is one change, a pill with a number is several, and the color is the result on that chart.

What a pin color means

  • No result yet, or no clear change

What you get

The answer to "what changed, and did it work".

Pins show what followed a change, never what caused it. Season, the market and other changes all have an effect.

01 / Who

See who made each change

You, Hero AI after you approved it, or an automation. On Google, also the Google Ads website, a Google recommendation or another tool.

02 / What followed

See what followed

The days after a change against as many days before, on cost, conversions and the ratio between them. It shows what followed, not proof of a cause.

03 / Honest

Get a straight answer

Under 7 days it says too early to judge. If another change hit the same campaign within a week, it says it is too close to judge.

04 / Undo

Undo where it exists

Most changes made in Hero Marketer have an Undo or a Revert, such as budgets, targets and pauses. Adding or removing keywords has none.

What comes next

Pins show what followed.
Hero AI helps with why.

Google changes show from the days after you connect, and LinkedIn and Meta show only changes made in Hero Marketer. To find the cause of a move, take it to Hero AI, which changes nothing until you click Approve and apply.

Common questions

What to know before you use ads change history.

Will it show changes made outside Hero Marketer?

On Google Ads, yes. Edits made in the Google Ads website, in Editor, by Google recommendations that applied themselves, and by other tools show too. On LinkedIn and Meta, no: they show only the changes made in Hero Marketer.

Does a pin prove a change worked?

No. A pin shows what followed a change, not what caused it. Season, the market and other changes all have an effect, so a result says "too close to another change to judge" when a second change hit the same campaign within a week.

Can I undo every change I see?

No. Most changes made in Hero Marketer have an Undo or a Revert, such as budgets, targets, pauses and new negative keywords. Adding or removing keywords and removing negative keywords have none, and neither does an edit made outside Hero Marketer.

Does it show changes from before I connected?

No. For Google Ads, Hero Marketer stores changes from the days after you connect. LinkedIn and Meta show only changes made in Hero Marketer.

What does change history cost?

Nothing extra. The pins are part of your dashboard and reports, which are free. Credits come in $20 packs with no monthly fee, and unused credits are refundable within 90 days of purchase.

Our leads cost more this month. Is it Google or LinkedIn?

LinkedIn. Its cost per lead rose from $180 to $260, and 46% of its clicks came from people at entry level, who rarely become leads for you. Google held at $74 a conversion, so leave it alone.
