The problem

You find out a week late,
after the budget is gone.

The Google Ads interface is only as useful as the last time you opened it. Between logins, the things that cost you most run silent. Google labels a campaign limited by budget in the UI but never emails. Conversion tracking can break for days. A single broad match term can quietly eat a week of spend.

  • "I logged in Monday and a campaign had burned its budget on junk terms since Thursday."
  • "Tracking broke after a site deploy. I made bid decisions on numbers that were already wrong."
  • "I do not have time to audit every account every morning before everything else I own."

What it catches

17 checks, in three jobs.

Most are problems Google Ads never emails you about. Every alert shows up in the app, and most types email you too, or post to your Slack channel.

Need one more? Build your own on a metric like daily spend, and see how often it would have fired in the last 30 days.

Protect

5 checks

Quiet failures that drain budget for days before anyone notices.

  • Google Ads connection broken

Hero Marketer lost access to the account. Nothing is watched until you reconnect.

  • Conversion tracking stopped working

Two full days of spend with zero conversions, after a normal week.

  • Daily budget running out too fast

A campaign used most of its daily budget with half the day still ahead.

  • Account spend spiking

Today's spend is far above what you usually spend on that weekday.

  • Campaign stopped serving

A live campaign got almost no impressions yesterday.

Performance

8 checks

Where the money leaks once your ads are running.

  • Campaign spending without converting

A campaign that usually converts went a week without one, while still spending.

  • Search terms wasting budget

A search term spent twice the campaign's cost per conversion in two weeks and never converted. Search campaigns only.

  • Profitable campaign capped by budget

A campaign missed 1 in 5 of its searches or more because the budget ran short. It needs conversion values, and it doesn't check profit.

  • Campaign not spending its budget

A campaign spent half its daily budget or less, days in a row. Something is holding it back.

  • Click through rate dropping

A campaign's CTR over the last week fell well below its usual level.

  • Conversion rate dropping

Fewer of a campaign's clicks turned into conversions last week than usual.

  • Cost per click spiking

One of your top-spend keywords cost far more per click than usual, three days running.

  • Cost per conversion spiking

A campaign's cost per conversion rose to 1.5 times its usual or more, after allowing for late conversions.

Governance

4 checks

Ads that got weaker, and changes someone else made.

  • Losing impression share to competitors

Competitors keep outranking a campaign with real spend. Bids, ad relevance or quality is the cause.

  • Keyword Quality Score dropping

A top-spend keyword's Quality Score fell from 7 or more to 5 or less overnight.

  • Responsive search ad got weaker

A live ad's strength fell from Good or Excellent to Poor or Average.

  • Account changed outside Hero Marketer

Someone else edited the account, Google applied a recommendation, or a rule or script ran. Edits from other connected tools aren't flagged.

Performance Max

No keyword report. Watch your ads wear out instead.

Performance Max won't show you keywords. So in Google Ads, watch the search themes your ads show for, and how each headline and image is rated. When a Good image slips to Low, buyers have stopped looking at it.

Ask Hero AI which images still pull their weight, then make fresh ones in your brand in minutes and swap them in.

Images, last 30 days

Pipeline board 2.3% CTR
Spreadsheet headline 0.4% CTR

Worn out, time to swap

Less noise

Thresholds scale with your account, not someone else's.

$50 wasted in a week is a rounding error for an account spending $10,000 a month, and a disaster for one spending $300. So most checks compare against your account's own numbers, with small minimums so a small account doesn't alert on pennies.

The generic way

"Alert me when a search term spends over $50."

Fires constantly on a big account and never on a small one. So you mute it, and then it is worthless.

The Hero Marketer way

"Alert me when a term wastes twice my CPA."

The bar moves with your own numbers. Nine alert types show how often they'd have fired in the last 30 days.

Red flags worth an alert

  • Conversions at zero for two days
  • Daily budget gone by midday
  • A profitable campaign missing searches for lack of budget
  • Clicks suddenly costing 1.5 times your usual
  • Cost per lead up by half

After the alert

One click from alert to next step.

Click Analyze with Hero AI and a new chat opens with the alert already in it, so there's nothing to copy over.

Conversions went silent across the account. What happened and what do I do?

Conversions went silent $2,610 spent · 0 conversions in 2 days

Conversions stopped on Monday across the account while spend held. Change history shows the Free CRM signup conversion action was edited that day.

Next: confirm that conversion action still records conversions in Google Ads, before you trust any bid change.

The next step, not just the alarm

Common questions

What to know before you try the Google Ads monitoring tool.

How is this different from the emails Google Ads already sends?

Google emails you about billing, suspensions and disapproved ads. It says nothing when conversion tracking breaks, a budget runs out by noon or a search term spends for two weeks without converting. Hero Marketer checks for those every day and shows each one in the app. Most types email you too, and they can post to a Slack channel you pick. There's no text message alert.

Will I just get spammed, or do the thresholds adjust to my account?

They adjust. Most alerts are sized to your account's own numbers, with small dollar floors so a small account doesn't alert on pennies. The noisiest checks wait for two or three readings in a row, and you get at most 10 alert emails a day. You can tune most thresholds, and nine alert types show how often they'd have fired in the last 30 days while you tune them.

Will it change anything in my Google Ads account?

No. Alerts only tell you what they found. To fix something, you approve the change in Hero AI, or switch on an automation, which then handles a narrow set of safe fixes by itself, within daily caps. Every action an automation takes can be reverted in one click.

I'm not a PPC person. What do I do when an alert fires?

On most alerts, click Analyze with Hero AI. It opens a new chat with the alert loaded, pulls your live Google Ads data and works out the cause and the next step, usually in about three minutes. If Hero AI can make the change, you approve it in the same chat. If not, it tells you where to make it in Google Ads.

What is the best spy tool for Google Ads?

Start free: Google's Ads Transparency Center shows any advertiser's live ads, and Auction insights shows who outbids you. Hero Marketer tells you when competitors start outranking a campaign that matters, and why.

How do I turn off Google Ads monitoring?

In Hero Marketer, switch off each alert in Alerts, or disconnect the account in Settings to stop everything. If you meant the ads Google shows you, turn off personalized ads at myadcenter.google.com.

What does monitoring cost?

Connecting your account is free, and so is your first scan, which runs all 17 checks once. Daily checks start when you first buy credits: 0.25 credits a day for each connected account, about $7.50 a month. Asking Hero AI about an alert is a normal question, usually 0.2 to 1.5 credits. Credits come in $20 packs with no monthly fee, and unused credits are refundable within 90 days of purchase.
